GITIS launches workshop for professional actors and students from February 18th to 28th in Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan. The Winter school is hosted by Pogodin Russian Drama theatre, Mukanov Kazakh Musical Drama theatre and city Puppet theatre. Professional actors of the aforementioned institutions as well as students of Ermek Serkebaev Art School — boarding school for talented children — will participate in the programme.
Last year students of the Art School took part in the GITIS — Master Class theatre festival. Their performance was so remarkable that GITIS decided to pay a reciprocal visit to the school in Petropavlovsk with more workshops for its students and three other local theatres.
The ten day workshop will comprise of classes on acting, directing, stage speech, stage movement from GITIS teachers. Closer attention is paid to the teaching methods of the Russian theatre school. Classes are led by senior practitioner of drama directing faculty Mikhail Chumachenko, senior practitioner of stage movement department Ruslan Nasibulin and stage speech department teacher Svetlana Yegorova.
The GITIS Winter school in Kazakhstan is realised as part of the strategic academic leadership programme Priority 2030 and is supported by the Ministry of culture of Kazakhstan and the GITIS Endowment foundation.
