Cooperation between Kazakh and Russian theatres was discussed at the open meeting in Kokshetau during the International forum “Kokshetau — a territory of creativity and friendship” hosted by the Northern gem of Kazakhstan’s Akmola region.
Theatre practitioners, journalists and guests of the forum were focused on the development of cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia. Akmola’s Russian drama theatre presented its premieres: “The Stationmaster” directed by Timur Kulakov and “Voices in the dark” by GITIS graduate Askar Galimov.
A few days earlier Russian Culture center “Russian House” in Kazakh capital Astana launched a new project “Art and Enlightenment without borders”. Its program was open by GITIS Rector Grigory Zaslavsky and director of Saint-Petersburg Youth theatre Svetlana Lavretsova who met with the Kazakh young people applying to Russian art schools this year. Prospective students had a chance to get helpful information about admissions to Russian universities.
Mr. Zaslavsky and Olga Filonova, head of Rossotrudnichestvo in Kazakhstan, agreed to organise workshops for young talent who aim to apply for Russian theatre institutes and to hold GITIS auditions in Astana.
Among the speakers of the meeting “Cultural co-operation between Kazakh and Russian theatres: current state, prospects and plans” in Kokahetau were Head of the Cultural department of the Akmola region Aigul Sabitova, GITIS Rector Grigory Zaslavsky, director of Saint-Petersburg Youth theatre Svetlana Lavretsova, director of Chimkent Russian drama theatre Igor Verbitsky, director of Kostanay Russian drama theatre and Yury Ivlev, director of Stanislavsky Russian drama theatre of Karaganda Gulnara Temirova. The meeting was initiated and moderated by director of Akmola Russian drama theatre Beibit Bakhtigereev.
