GITIS will celebrate Moliere’s 400th anniversary by publishing 2 unique editions: a book by Karl Manzius “Moliere. Theaters, Audience, Actors of His Time” and a collection of new and old translations of “The Misanthrope”.
The publication of different translations of a single play carries a scholarly and historical theatrical significance connected to contemporary theatre reality — any theater production based of a foreign play always highly depends on the choice of translation of the original text.
On February 5th at the GITIS Educational Theater, students of the acting department will perform the premiere of “The Misanthrope” directed by Sergei Poselsky. Also, GITIS plans to launch a competition of contemporary comedies — we will announce the details for participation on the official GITIS website very soon.
