On January 17-22nd GITIS professors led a new laboratory for theater producers, directors, and managers in Kyrgyzstan.
GITIS associate professor Alexandra Knyazeva, Dean of the Theater Production Department Pavel Skvortsov, and professors Elena Simurzina and Evgeniya Kuznetsova will run workshops and classes. These classes will cover a wide variety of topics including strategic planning, management, and marketing.
“Due to the increased demand for managers in the creative sector, we decided to organize these classes. We know exact methods and practices in creative management that proved maximum effectiveness,” — commented Pavel Skvortsov, Dean of the Theater Production Department.
“If you don’t keep up with the latest practices and trends, you can fall far behind. Our theater now ranks last among all theaters in Central Asia. We do not have a general producer, but we see how necessary this position is in our theater. We need a marketing department, a sales department, and a press office. Now we are recruiting new English-speaking employees,” stated Almazbek Istambayev, director of the Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abdylas Maldybayev.
GITIS regularly organizes various educational events and projects. The core objective is to reinforce cooperation with drama schools and theaters in CIS countries. Last summer, GITIS ran summer schools with various classes and workshops on theater acting, directing, and stage movement.
