On February 1st, students of the class of People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Andreev (Acting art Department) presented “A Warsaw Melody” by Leonid Zorin. This performance became a tribute to the anniversary of famous Russian playwright and novelist Leonid Zorin who celebrated his 95th birthday two months ago.
Students of Andreev’s class first approached “A Warsaw Melody” two years ago, when Aleksandra Beloglazova and Evgeny Kiva worked with an excerpt. Now, as fourth graders they took the full play and got the support from professor Vladimir Andreev, a long-time friend of Leonid Zorin. Andreev himself directed Zorin’s works and performed his characters.
GITIS Directing Department graduate, young director Pavel Pronin (class of Leonis Kheifets) was invited to work with a play in 2020. His “Warsaw Melody” shows how a today’s generation sees this famous love story behind the iron curtain.
