The International Student Theatre Festival 2019 took place in the Central Drama Academy, Beijing. It was organised by World Theatre Education Alliance.
GITIS Rector Grigory Zaslavsky delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. He stressed the importance of preserving the theatrical tradition and international educational exchange, that builds the way for development.
“These students shows are a blend of young people voices and experience of our best teachers, some of them are GITIS graduates too. That’s how the tradition is preserved, without it a theatre school can’t exist. It’s a pleasure to say this being in China, where traditions are valued”.
This year program is dedicated to William Skakespeare. GITIS was represented by the students of the Directing faculty (Professor Leonif Kheifets’ class), they performed “The Taming Of The Shrew”. Daniil Nikitin (the role of Petruccio) and Olga Bodrova (the role of Katarina) were awarded by the WTEA jury. Check out pictures on our Facebook page.
GITIS has become a member of WTEA and a regular participant of the festival since 2017.
