Art director of the course, theater historian, theater critic, Doctor of Arts, professor, Honored worker of science of the Russian Federation.

In 1961 he graduated from the Theater Studies Faculty (1961) and finished GITIS Postgraduate Studies (1964). He teaches the History of Foreign Theatre course, where Shakespeare and related aspects of the theater history hold a valuable place.

A. Bartoshevich is the chairman of the Shakespeare Commission at the History of World Culture Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and is also a member of the Executive Committee of the International Shakespeare Association.

He is the author of the following books: Comic in Shakespeare’s works (1975), Shakespeare on the English stage. End of XIX — first half of XX century. The Life of Traditions and the Struggle of Ideas (1985), The Poetics of Early Shakespeare (1987), Shakespeare. England. XX century (1994),Shakespeare in the Theater of the XX century (2002) and others.
