With two leading departments — the History of Russian Theatre and that of the History of Foreign Theatre, the course intensively explores the history of theatre, art history, performing arts theory, philosophy, teaching psychology, pedagogy, and foreign languages, helping you achieve your career ambitions in academia and education.
Postgraduate students have the opportunity to publish their works in the GITIS scientific journal “Theatre. Fine arts. Film. Music.”
It was included by the High Attestation Commission (VAC) of the Russian Federation in the list of peer-reviewed scientific journals and is included in the current list of the Ministry of Education and Science from 01.03.2021.
The almanac publishes articles by PhD students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral fellows in the following fields of art studies.

PROFESSORIAL APPRENTICESHIP
Degree: Apprenticeship — highest qualification
Course duration: 2 years, full-time
The Professorial Apprenticeship course is designed to prepare performance arts teachers in higher education. The program is considered a 3rd level of higher education in performing arts following post-graduate degrees.
During the course students master different methods of teaching creative artistic disciplines and improve their professional qualifications in performing arts. This is a unique advanced educational program developed exclusively within the area of performing arts.
The professorial apprenticeship is offered in:
• 52.09.02 Acting in dramatic theatre and film
• 52.09.02 Acting in musical theatre
• 52.09.05 Directing in drama theatre
• 52.09.05 Directing in musical theatre
• 52.09.03 Stage speech
• 52.09.04 Stage movement and dance
In order to apply you have to have a specialist or a master’s degree in creative or performing arts with appropriate qualifications.
