A memorandum of understanding was signed in Tashkent between the Russian House in Uzbekistan (Rossotrudnichestvo), the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts GITIS, and the Center for Education in the Field of Culture of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
A meeting held at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan was attended by Alisher Jamaldinov, Director of the Center for Education in the Field of Culture of the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan; Grigory Zaslavsky, Rector of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts GITIS; and Irina Staroselskaya, Head of the Russian House (Rossotrudnichestvo) in Uzbekistan. They discussed the development of international cooperation in the field of creative arts education.
The memorandum outlines plans for collaboration in theatre art, acting and directing training, as well as professional development programs and training, exchange programs, and the implementation of joint projects.
Rector Grigory Zaslavsky noted at the press conference afterwards that the agreement marks an important step toward expanding opportunities for talented young artists from Uzbekistan:
“We hope this memorandum will become the foundation for new projects and exchange of experience. We will continue to support gifted young people from Uzbekistan who wish to study at GITIS and later return home as directors, teachers, and actors.”
