The legend of Don Juan — “The Stone Guest” premiered at Teatro Violeta Parra in Santiago, Chile — a daring and deeply creative international production, brought together GITIS teachers and students from the University of Chile.
This unique project, a collaboration between GITIS, the University of Chile, and the Russian House in Chile, was directed by our teachers Ekaterina Granitova-Lavrovskaya, Ramunė Khodorkaitė, and Robert Elkibaev. The creative process began a month ago with online rehearsals, followed by five intense days of in-person work in Santiago.
After the performance in Santiago, the show traveled across the country — to Osorno and Temuco, and then returned to the capital for a final performance.
Based on a dramatic mixture of Tirso de Molina and Alexander Pushkin’s plays about Don Juan, the text has been shared among seven actors, creating a modern retelling of the timeless legend.
GITIS School in Chile is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Russia.
