GITIS Graduate Aiana Oskembayeva Presents Tajik Ballet Premiere in Paris
Aiana Oskembayeva, a recent graduate of the Choreography Faculty of GITIS and now Chief Ballet Master of the Ayni Opera and Ballet Theatre (Tajikistan), presented her new divertissement “Inspiration from Asia”, set to music by contemporary Tajik composers. The world premiere took place in Paris during the company’s first-ever tour of France, where the ballet troupe triumphed on the stage of the Théâtre du Gymnase Marie-Bell.
The evening opened with Mikhail Fokine’s classic “Chopiniana”, followed by a mix program featuring scenes from classical ballets such as “Don Quixote”, “Giselle”, “The Little Humpbacked Horse”, and variations inspired by the music of Niccolo Paganini. The performance concluded with ч new national divertissement, choreographed to music by Tajik composers Tolibkhon Shakhidi (“Tajikistan”), Zokir Nishonov (“Idona”), and Daler Tilloev (“Navoi Chark”, “Gardish”).
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my beloved GITIS—my professors, mentors, and the leadership of the university. Thank you for your dedication to teaching and supporting us throughout our studies. Most of all, thank you for teaching us the most important thing: to act boldly and never be afraid. I’m endlessly grateful to you,” shared Aiana Oskembayeva.
The performance was part of the international festival “Tajikistan Culture in Paris”. It was organized in cooperation with the Ayni Opera and Ballet Theatre of Tajikistan, France UNESCO Art Culture and the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the French Republic.
