GITIS teachers are heading to Almaty to lead a series of master classes in the Kazakh National Drama theater named after Mukhtar Auezov.
For 15 days actors of the M. Auezov theater will be working on acting, stage speech and stage movement with our teachers: senior teacher of the acting department Andrey Oganyan, senior teacher of the stage movement department Robert Elkibaev, and senior teacher of the stage speech department Tatyana Vasilieva.
The workshop was initiated by the M. Auezov Drama theater’s director Erkin Zhuasbek and became part of the big program to celebrate theatre’s 100th year anniversary in 2026. Mr. Zhuasbek sees this cooperation as an opportunity to “set high professional standards”. “With professional artistic skills we aim to further promote Kazakh culture on the international stage”, he says.
GITIS has long established connections with Kazakh theatre schools and Russian drama theatres in the country, we also highly appreciate the cooperation with Kazakh national theatres. “Our master-classes in M. Auezov Drama theater is a very pleasant sign of recognition of GITIS’ leadership in the area of academic theatre education and effectiveness of our teaching methods,” GITIS rector Grigory Zaslavsky emphasized.
GITIS workshop in Kazakh National Drama theater named after Mukhtar Auezov is part of the strategic academic leadership program Priority 2030.
