GITIS is elaborating training programs and aspires to become the main methodological center for theatre education for the member states of the International Center for Research and Documentation on African Traditions and African Languages (CERDOTOLA). Future cooperation was discussed by GITIS rector Grigory Zaslavsky and the executive secretary of CERDOTOLA Binam Bikoï at their first meeting. The executive secretary of CERDOTOLA Jean Eudes Biem, the head of the Russian business center in Cameroon Olga Gogolina, and the head of GITIS educational and methodological department Daria Drugachenko were also present at the talks. The meeting was organised by the Russian business center in Cameroon.
It has been discussed that first GITIS teachers will visit Cameroon to deliver training on acting, stage speech and stage movement for students of master’s programs in January 2025. It is also planned to receive lectures by GITIS academics on the history of Russian theatre, the history of fine arts and the history of costume. The classes will make a significant contribution to the researches of African colleagues. Regular consultations between GITIS and CERDOTOLA on the training of theatre practitioners and specialists in Africa will follow.
CERDOTOLA aims to develop theatre education in the Republic of Cameroon and other African countries and collaborate with GITIS to get methodological assistance in training actors, directors, choreographers and other professional working in performing arts.
The International Center for Research and Documentation on African Traditions and African Languages (CERDOTOLA) has its headquarters in Yaounde, Republic of Cameroon. Its offices are present in Angola, Burundi, the Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Rwanda and Sao Tome and Principe.
